Our teenagers today face significant pressure to achieve well in school, manage school/home life balance and cope with exam stress and anxiety. Alongside this, they have to deal with peer group pressure and learn to build and maintain adult relationships. Confidence, self-belief and overall emotional resilience are essential in coping with these pressures.
As parents, we want our children to not only do well academically but to flourish as adults; to recognise their wonderful skills and resources, to persevere when things get tough, to communicate with adults and their peers effectively and to be resilient when things don’t go to plan.
Top performers, from professional athletes to business executives, all work with coaches. Coaching is not counselling, quite simply it takes people to where they want to go. I believe that what they will learn in coaching will have a positive impact on their life now and in the future. Coaching is very positive and solution-focused.
Coaching is a confidential, non-judgemental space and using tools and techniques they can benefit from:
Recognising their skills and strengths
Changing how they react to events
Recognising self-limiting beliefs and how to overcome them
Communicating more effectively with adults and peers
Improving their academic and organizational skills
Finding a balance between schoolwork and home life
Using techniques to help alleviate anxiety and exam stress
As well as a Diploma in Coaching with NLP, I also have a B Ed Degree having taught for 20 years. I am DBS checked.
"The Coaching provided by Dawn has been really valuable for our students-they have really benefitted from these sessions, focussing on a wide range of areas including study skills, low confidence and self-belief, dealing with the pressure of exams, dealing with negative emotions such as anger issues. She clearly understands young people and how to support and guide them." A Linton Former Head of Year , Charters School
